Introduction to Home Funeral and Green Burial

Ever wondered what a green burial actually is? Did you know that you can have a home funeral, too? No need to embalm, no need to buy an expensive casket made from precious hardwoods and toxic resins and metal. No need to go to a funeral home. Come to this workshop and learn all about how to have a DIY funeral and environmentally friendly burial. Participants will learn the importance of and how to plan ahead, talk to their family and friends and arrange for their own green burial and/or home funeral. Handouts will be available.

Merilynne Rush – After Death Home Care/Death Cafe

Merilynne RushMerilynne Rush is a home funeral guide, midwife and nurse.  She educates families about how to care for their own dead at home and how to have a green burial. She is an experienced and dynamic speaker. Merilynne is on the executive board of the National Home Funeral Alliance and is President of the Michigan Doula Connection. In addition to private family consultations and assistance at the time of death, Merilynne offers presentations, workshops and trainings on home funeral and green burial throughout Michigan and the U.S.
