Introduction to Rain Gardens

Source: Huron River Watershed Council

Rain gardens capture storm water runoff from hard surfaces like rooftops and driveways, keeping harmful pollutants from flowing directly into our local waterways.  In this session, Roger Moon will show you how to build your own residential Rain Garden and how it will help sustain the health of our rivers and streams, while providing an esthetically pleasing site.  In Ann Arbor, it’ll even earn you a water bill credit from the city.  He’ll show you the basic process for creating your rain garden and where County resources are available for assistance.

Roger A. Moon

Roger is a 42 year Ann Arbor resident, retired engineer, experienced rain gardener and a Certified Master Rain Gardener through the Washtenaw County Water Resources Rain Garden Program. He volunteers his services to help educate the public on the benefits of rain gardens, assist home owners with their property assessment and provide rain garden design and implementation assistance.
