You are invited and encouraged to join the Ann Arbor – Ypsi Reskilling Eco-Challenge team!
The Eco-Challenge is a two-week challenge that gives you the opportunity to work on one or more specific actions that will reduce your impact on the environment. The Eco-Challenge has categorized nine different areas of our lifestyles (see categories below), each of which has several specific actions to choose from. You pick your Challenge and set a goal that stretches your comfort zone and makes a difference for you, your community, and the planet. You can even “Create Your Own” challenge if you have a specific action in mind you’d like to work on to reduce your environmental impact!
Often times we might feel that our individual actions are so small they don’t make much of a difference. Join our team and see how just one group of committed individual’s collective action can make a huge difference!
How to join our team:
Follow this link to the Ann Arbor – Ypsi Reskilling team page!
Near the top of the page on the right, click on “JOIN THIS TEAM”
Fill out form with your information to make your own profile.
Once registered, browse the 9 categories & choose one or more actions to work on!
The Eco-Challenge kicks off on October 11th and lasts for 2 weeks. Be sure to log into your account each day of the challenge to track progress and accrue points!
Interested in the Eco-Challenge but unable to participate in the two-week October challenge? You’re in luck! We will be using the Eco-Challenge as a springboard for discussion and personal endeavors at our monthly potlucks.
All our best,
Ann Arbor-Ypsi Reskilling Organizing Team
This winter we will once again offer our childcare co-op at the ReSkilling Festival on February 10! Having young children can make it difficult to attend all the sessions you might want to, and we hope this might make it a little easier.
We are planning for this childcare co-op to be:
- Run by parents attending the festival partnered with other skilled volunteers,
- Filled with child-focused reskilling sessions, along with other activities throughout the day (it will break during lunch),
- Geared toward children of all ages,
- A grand success with your help!
If you would like to have your child(ren) involved in the co-op, we ask you to volunteer some of your time and skills, as well! We already have some volunteers who are willing to present kid’s workshops. What activity might you like to bring?!
If you are interested in being involved (whether you are a parent or not!) or want more information, please fill out this form to indicate your interest. Please remember that spaces will be limited, so if you do not pre-register your child(ren), there may not be space for them the day of the festival.
Thanks to Edith Estey for volunteering to coordinate this effort! Edie has been involved in several childcare cooperatives, and has worked with children for over 18 years, including having 3 children of her own. If you are interested in helping with this effort, Edie will be the one to contact you!
Just a reminder, our deadline for presenters is Sunday, January 20th. If you have a skill to share and haven’t filled out our presenter form yet, please take a moment to check it out!
This winter we’re trying something new. We’d like to open a room for vendors to sell their wares and give you the opportunity to watch or even work along with them and purchase their works. If you have a skill to share and goods to sell, please check out our vendor form. As this is the Reskilling Festival, you must be willing to to include an educational component, even if it’s just actively crafting during the festival to show others what you do and how you do it.
Are you interested in organizing your own ReSkilling Festival in your town, church, school, neighborhood? We have documented our process for organizing this festival. Check out the document here! We are also happy to share resources such as Excel, Word, and Google templates that we use in the organizing process. Contact us at email@example.com or call Laura at 312-399-3918. We would love to see ReSkilling Festivals happening everywhere!
It is 1 month away from the big event and we need your help publicizing! Our final event schedule — with all of the amazing workshops — will be posted within the week. Until then, show some love by RSVP’ing on Facebook! Please also use Facebook to forward the event to as many people as possible. You can also print this 8×11 flyer to put up in your workplace or anywhere you frequent!
Did you come to the Festival, but forget to turn in your festival evaluation? We would still love to hear from you!

Festival feedback is the best way for us to know how our events are going and what to improve! We encourage you to be completely open and honest. We appreciate any and all feedback we receive from you!
Thank you for coming! We hope you had as much fun as we did!
Most of the handouts for the sessions that had them are now available on their session post. Stay tuned for pictures from this festival!
