I myself always wondered why kids in elementary and middle school focus so much on dating. Even when I was a kid and tween myself, I thought it was stupid that kids got so caught up in these immature relationships that really don't stand much of a chance of lasting anyhow.
That is why I always knew I wanted to wait until at least high school to start dating. The ending of this story might have been a bit overly optimistic and unrealistic since there is pretty much no way that you will convince most love-stricken kids that they are too young to date , but it was still a good read and makes a good point. One person found this helpful. I always pre-read any books I download for my eleven year old. This is a clean, straight forward, age appropriate story of twelve year old girl whose best friend has a boyfriend.
Should she be more interested in boys? How will this affect their friendship? Wonderfully written by and from the perspective of a 12 year old girl. I highly recommend this book, and I am enjoying watching Miss Arnold grow and mature as she continues to author books for her age group! This is written by a young author who is very wise for her age.
This book is written with feelings about the topic of dating verses no dating. Thankfully not dating won and I hope the young girls who read this book also see the authors points of view and choose not to date until they are an appropriate age.
Dating can be complicated enough without being too young for this stage in a girls life. Very useful book! Tots in tiaras, teen moms, and every young girls magazine in print pressure young teens and those in transition between childhood and their teens that if they're not dating then something is wrong with them. This leads to young ladies as well as young men into making poor life decisions that in most cases negatively impact their lives for years to come. It's refreshing to see that someone is encouraging the idea that it's alright to be a kid; adulthood with all its worries will happen soon enough, fear not.
I chose the rate 3 becAuse I really knew about the boyfriend thing. I started dating as a 4th grader I really didn't wanna go out with this boy but it was a game I was in. Now I'm going to the 7th grade and the same not still tries to go out with me still but guess what I say Boy No Well I would definitely recommend this book for some of my friends that are stressing on our this stuff.
I think that it needs a little more detail and I liked it also because it is a book that would help a girl about that stuff. So over all I thought it was good. This book is probably for kids my age. I am eleven and a lot of my friends have changed from before they had a boyfriend. Now some of my friends don't care about their grades!
